Join us in New Orleans!

July 30- August 1, 2024 | New Orleans, LA

Promote your organization and increase brand recognition with an audience of over 250 college admission counseling professionals committed to championing the needs of diverse students within the college admission process.

The conference’s intimate size—roughly 500 participants—belies its vast contributions to the profession, including the development of best practices for diversity, equity, and inclusion, and its cultivation of future leaders in the profession and the association. Many past and present NACAC board members, presidents and board chairs, and other leaders have ascended to leadership by way of their participation at GWI. Equally importantly, GWI is the crucible for forging new, cutting-edge practices for removing barriers so the pipeline from secondary to postsecondary education is opened wide for all students who are interested. Lessons learned and connections made at GWI reach far beyond the conference’s confines, as innovative practices and interpersonal connections developed there spread among institutions across the country each year.

Join us at Coppin State University!

June 10th, 2024 | Baltimore, MD

A 2022 report issued by NACAC in conjunction with the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) took aim at the systemic inequities that have plagued the overall population of colleges and universities and called on admission offices, institutional leaders, and policymakers to reconsider the design of their admission systems to better orient them to equity, particularly as it applies to under-represented racial minority students. Since the design of HBCUs places them at the epicenter of access for Black students in America, some of the recommendations in the 2022 report do not apply to them. However, others, such as application simplification, admission workforce support, and rethinking admission criteria and selectivity, are still ripe for examination. With HBCU admission officers, we can explore the challenges that limit their ability to recruit and enroll students, while also elevating the successful practices that make this segment of institutions so critical to our national equity goals.
